KINGSTON, Jamaica – Apprentice Richard Henry became the latest of the last lot of apprentices who started to ride in September of last year to ride a winner.
The young man achieved his winning feat aboard Storm Born in a Restricted Allowance IV event for four-year-olds and upwards – non-winners of three races run at a distance of five furlongs straight.
Henry drawn on the outside on the Donovan Russell trainee kept Storm Born close to the rails and although persistently challenged by Miss Elaine – Anthony Thomas – 5-2), the young man was able to keep his cool to land his first victory.
Miss Elaine was second with Miss Linda Wray (Mathew Bennett – 7-1) third.
