Trainer Richard Azan acknowledged the progress made but cautioned that “there is still a lot of work to be done” following the maiden victory of his charge Senor Biscotti on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
“We are now at the period of development for the three-year-olds. As such, we prepare, we take care and we hope that all will go well in their development. “Senor Biscotti is showing signs of ability after five starts; so, we will just have to wait and see. I am, however, grateful for this first victory,” Azan said.
The bay colt had finished well down the track in the Boxing Day (2025) Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes, but returned to put rivals away in a maiden condition event. Partnered by Raddesh Roman, Senor Biscotti covered the 6 ½ furlongs in 1:22.3 (24.1 x 48.4 x 1:15.4), winning by a length and three-quarters.
Roman got his mount out of the gates smartly, taking the early lead ahead of Code Red (Reyan Lewis), Red ThirtyTwo (Christopher Mamdeen), and London Spirit (Robert Halledeen). Approaching the half-mile (800m), Minnehaha (Tevin Foster) surged past to dictate the tempo into the lane.
However, Senor Biscotti fought back strongly in the stretch, reclaiming the advantage and drawing clear for a comfortable success. London Spirit stayed on for second, while Red ThirtyTwo secured third place.
