Starraura, Cosalivin To Decide Fillies’ 3-Y-O Maiden Call

THREE YEAR OLD 2025 - 56 89

KINGSTON, Jamaica - The first race on Saturday, March 22, 2025, is an assembly of 10, maiden three-year-old fillies covering a distance of six furlongs.

The Quick Galloper’s take on the possible outcome is carried below.

1 - NATIVE FLYER is a bay (March 25) by Successful Native out of Polly Flyer, trained by Steven Todd with Dane Dawkins aboard. Racing with blinkers and a tongue tie, Native Flyer is slowly finding her way, finishing fourth in her last race, making her a strong bet for the exotics.

2 - MINEOLA is a bay (March 5) by Casual Trick out of Sweet Trail, trained by Jason DaCosta with Shavon Townsend at the reins. She has been underwhelming in her four starts so far, with her best hope being a top four finish.

3 - STARRAURA is a chestnut (March 10) by Bold Conquest out of Little Wasp, trained by Jason DaCosta with Robert Halledeen riding. Racing with blinkers, Starraura will benefit from the added half-furlong, having previously run on at 5 ½ furlongs. She has shown continued improvement in morning exercises and will be a contender in this race.

4 - WOMAN IN LOVE is a late non-starter.

5 - SPARKLING FIRE is a bay (April 16) by Bold Conquest out of Awesome Camille, trained by Omar Williams with Romario Spencer holding the reins. Racing without blinkers and a tongue tie this time, yet even with these changes in equipment she cannot be considered a factor in this race.

6 - JODIE’S FUND is a bay (March 17) by Hedge Fund out of True Whisper, trained by Welsh Soutar with Tyrese Anderson as the designated rider. This filly is making her debut and will gain valuable experience.

7 - ALTHIA is an imported in utero bay (February 12) by Fort Loudan out of Truth Is Truth, trained by Gordon Lewis with Phillip Parchment aboard. Racing with a tongue tie, Althia has shown signs of improvement, as evidenced by her recent third-place finish. She is still learning but is expected to excel soon.

8 - BABY GREY is a grey by Midnight Hawk out of Alienate, trained by Oraldo Chin with Evertte Clunis at the reins. Another first-timer, she will gain valuable experience from this race.

9 - COSALIVIN is a chestnut by Bold Conquest out of Sweetyourock, trained by Gregg Fennell with Tevin Foster riding. Racing without a tongue tie, Cosalivin has been getting closer with each appearance and should leverage her experience from four starts to be competitive at the finish.

10 - PERFECT AFFAIR is a chestnut by Perfect Curlin out of Nuclear Affair, trained by Anthony Nunes with Reyan Lewis holding the reins. After not delivering as expected in her first race on February 23, Perfect Affair has been worked hard since, and expectations are high for her atonement in this event.
