KINGSTON, Jamaica – THE QUICK GALLOPER has compiled special notes for the race day of Sunday, May 8, to include THE KINGSTON.

THE KINGSTON

1 – The dominant sire in THE KINGSTON is Bern Identity. Bern Identity has sired three of the 13 participants including Blue Vinyl (Bern Identity out of Blufield), Perfect Brew (Bern Identity out of Moonlight Brew), and Brinks (Bern Identity out of Indian Bluff).
2 – Five horses of the 13 in THE KINGSTON have won two races and these are The Citadel, Tekapunt, Deezi, Power, and Brinks. All the rest have won one race each. There is no maiden in THE KINGSTON.
3 – The most experienced in THE KINGSTON line-up is Tekapunt with nine starts to his credit. Tekapunt is followed by Nomoredeals with eight starts.
4 – There are two unbeaten horses in THE KINGSTON, and those two are The Citadel trained by Ian Parsard, and Emperorofthecats trained by Carl Anderson, who is also the owner and the breeder. Both The Citadel and Emperorofthecats have the same record of two wins from two starts.
5 – Geldings hold the upper hand in THE KINGSTON as seven of the 13 horses entered are geldings. The geldings are The Citadel, Tekapunt, Salute The Deputy, Supreme Song, Emperorofthecats, Perfect Brew, and Brinks.

THE HORSES

There is only one newcomer on the nine-race card.
That newcomer is the US-bred Riddim. Riddim is a chestnut filly by Race Day out of Nabbed trained by Patrick Lynch with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. Of note, Race Day is also the sire of Race Car.

THE JOCKEYS

The developing trend of the younger riders picking up the most rides on race days continues, as Roger Hewitt leads the way with eight mounts out of the nine races on offer. The only race Hewitt does not ride in is THE KINGSTON.
Hewitt is closely followed by Dane Dawkins (seven rides); Tevin Foster (seven rides), and Youville Pinnock (seven rides).
Champion and current leader Anthony Thomas has five rides on the day, as does former champion Omar Walker.

JOCKEY OSHANE NUGENT

One cannot help but notice the steady decline of apprentice Oshane Nugent. Nugent began his career on a good note riding a number of  winners, and was voted as the most improved apprentice. His stocks have fallen recently, with both the winners and the number of mounts on race days drying up. Nugent has three rides from eleven races on Saturday (May 7), and one on Sunday (May 8).
