KINGSTON, Jamaica - The eighth race on Saturday, November 9, 2024, is the 2024 running of the St Elizabeth Distaff.
The St Elizabeth Distaff is an Open Allowance call over a mile for three-year-old and upward fillies and mares.
Ten of the best on offer at this level have been nominated to compete with The Quick Galloper’s analysis assessment provided below.
1 - ALL FOR LOVE: She is an unlikely contender to win this race, and the unfavourable draw at position one adds to her challenges. It's worth noting that All For Love will be racing with the figure eight on her.
2 - GRECIAN LIGHT (USA): This filly has been well-prepared for this race. Grecian Light showed a return to form by finishing second in the Overnight Allowance on October 26. The distance suits her perfectly, and having Shane Ellis in the saddle adds another advantage.
3 - SHE'S MY FRIEND: Her chances of success are slim. She will be racing without the tongue tie this time.
4 - POWER FROM ABOVE: She finished a disappointing fifth in her last race behind Oasis Jak and Grecian Light, which was over a trip much too short for her preference. However, don’t count her out—she is expected to improve with the blinkers off and a visor on for this longer distance.
5 - JOY IS GOLDEN (USA): She had a poor performance just seven days ago but can do better, so don’t be surprised if she shows improvement this time. Joy Is Golden will be racing with the tongue tie on.
6 - PROVOCATIVA (USA): This horse may struggle against the competition. She will be racing without the blinkers.
7 - DIGITAL ONE (USA): She finished a close third behind Perfect Brew and Money Market on October 6. Although she hasn't progressed as expected since her impressive two-year-old season, Digital One has previously found success at the Overnight level and will have another chance to excel here. Notably, she will be racing without the visor.
8 - BOOTYLICIOUS: After a 118-day break, Bootylicious is back. She is the speedster of this group, and if she is allowed to lead without interference, she could be a strong contender. However, the main concern for her chances in the Distaff is the distance; she has not raced longer than 6½ furlongs in her last seven outings.
9 - SISTREN TREASURE (USA): After a long period of underperformance, this horse has found her stride just in time for the Distaff. Sistren Treasure will be racing at an ideal distance, with her best performances coming in the final two furlongs.
10 - BABYLIKE: She is not expected to have a reasonable chance of winning.
