KINGSTON, Jamaica - Trained by Michael Thomas and ridden by Reyan Lewis, Sir Frederick got up in the nick of time to win a three-year-old and upwards Claiming ($250,000-$200,000) spread over 4 ½ furlongs (900m).
Sir Frederick broke behind the field and watched as Hunter’s Ridge (Raddesh Roman), Supreme Star (Shane Richardson), Sly Stalloon (Anthony Thomas), Colour Me Tan (Tevin Foster), and Queen Deftiny (Oshane Nugent) battled for the early lead.
Coming across the dummy rails, Sir Frederick continued to race behind the pace as he took his time making his way to the stand side of the racetrack, while Hunter’s Ridge, Supreme Star, and Colour Me Tan kept their battle going.
Inside the final furlong, Sir Frederick got going and came with a strong run to nip Colour Me Tan on the line, winning by a short head. Sly Stalloon finished third, with the final time clocking in at 57.1.
