KINGSTON, Jamaica - The three-year-old Classic season has kicked into high gear following the completion of the Sir Howard Stakes (colts and geldings) and the Hot Line Stakes (fillies) on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

Both races unfolded over six furlongs, showcasing the rising talents of the current crop of three-year-olds.

FIRST: HONOUR PRINCE - Skillfully conditioned by trainer Robert Pearson and expertly guided by jockey Phillip Parchment, Honour Prince showcased an impressive performance, securing victory decisively. Although he faced stiff competition from seasoned importees in his previous race, where he finished fourth at five and a half furlongs, Honour Prince demonstrated his resilience in the Sir Howard. Lagging behind the early frontrunners, Parchment remained calm and patiently elevated the horse's momentum as they approached the three-furlong mark. Rounding the bend three-wide, Honour Prince unleashed a burst of speed under determined handling. His win suggests he has the potential for the longer distances, particularly with upcoming races such as the seven-furlong Prince Consort and the 7 ½ furlong The Kingston. This significant victory marks Honour Prince as a promising contender for the future.

SECOND: PRINCE ROY - Emerging as a delightful surprise, Prince Roy was initially overlooked by bettors but proved his mettle in the Sir Howard. Positioned near the back of the pack for much of the race, he unleashed a noticeable closing kick that saw him finish just three-quarters of a length behind the winner. This striking performance undeniably shifts attention toward the Prince Consort, where expectations for Prince Roy will be elevated.

THIRD: ANOTHER ONE - Fully expected to lead the charge, the odds-on favourite Another One quickly established himself at the front, maintaining his position as they entered the straight. However, he faltered in the final stretch, ultimately crossing the finish line a disappointing 1 ½ lengths behind Honour Prince and Prince Roy. While this lacklustre finish raises questions about his suitability for the longer trips, it’s premature to draw firm conclusions. Given that these young horses are still maturing, their trajectories can change rapidly as they develop.

FOURTH: MARK MY IDENTITY - Despite finishing fourth, Mark My Identity exhibited a revitalized effort, closing strongly in the final stages of the race. This encouraging performance captured the attention of spectators, leading many to speculate that he may excel in the longer distances of the Classic races later in the season. Look for this chestnut colt to be a formidable contender as the competition intensifies.

FIFTH: SENSATIONAL SOUL - Expectations were low, and the performance matched them, with not much buzz generated from this outing.

SIXTH: EASY MONEY - Unfortunately, Easy Money was unable to make an impact throughout the race, remaining peripheral to the action.

SEVENTH: STRONG MIND - From the outset, Strong Mind was completely out of contention, failing to mount any challenge.

As the Classic season unfolds, the performances in the Sir Howard Stakes will have significant implications for the remaining races. Keep an eye on Honour Prince, Mark My Identity and Prince Roy as they carve their paths in the upcoming events!
