KINGSTON, Jamaica - The smile on the face of trainer Steven Todd following the running of the eighth race on Saturday, June 8, 2024, had the tell-tale signs of joy and a strong feeling of accomplishment.

Todd watched his charge She’s That Girl ridden by Tevin Foster speed away from her three-year-old non-winners of two rivals at six furlongs, to make it two wins from two starts.

What was noticeable about the run by She’s That Girl was the first two furlongs, which the Savoy Stomp out of Place Gold chestnut filly clocked in a blistering time of 22.3 seconds. The new electronic timer had her completing the event in a time of 1:13.2, winning by 2 ½ lengths.

Foreigner Magnificent Force (Oneil Mullings) finished second with Shooting Star (Phillip Parchment) third.

“She’s That Girl, has speed, lots of speed. We have taken our time with her as there were some issues we had to deal with.

“After her second win, She’s That Girl returned to the stables in good nick, eating her feed in her customary brisk manner. The task ahead is to keep She’s That Girl healthy and safe, for her to fulfil the potential she has,” Todd shared with Quickgallopja.com.

The trainer then gave an insight into what’s in store for his filly.

“We are not rushing her, instead along with the owner, we will plot her future with her well-being as the primary objective.

“Thus far, She’s That Girl has won going four furlongs and six furlongs, the task ahead is to prepare her to possibly go longer meticulously, that is, to expand her distance reach. That takes time, and is always a work in progress,” Todd said.

As to whether, She’s That Girl will race in the remaining two, three-year-old Classic races, the 10-furlong Jamaica St Leger, and the 12-furlong Jamaica Derby, Todd stated: “What I can say at this time is, She’s That Girl will not be racing in the St Leger. What will happen afterwards, only time will tell, but I am pleased with the progress she is making, and long may it continue.”
