KINGSTON, Jamaica - In her finest performance to date, She’s My Destiny triumphed at the 49th Philip Feanny OD Gold Cup on Monday, October 16, 2023.

Demonstrating an unusual style, she came from behind to defeat her competitors by a length and a half in the Open Allowance/Graded Stakes contest for three-year-olds and upward horses at seven furlongs.

The five-year-old chestnut filly secured her fourth consecutive win from nine starts this season, finishing with a time of 1:25.0 (23.1 x 46.0 x 1:10.4).

Below is the Quick Galloper's assessment of the 2023 Gold Cup in finishing order:

1st - SHE’S MY DESTINY: Typically known for her speed, She’s My Destiny displayed remarkable acceleration under jockey Ramon Nepare's patient guidance. Trainer Jason DaCosta's strategy paid off, signifying a golden run for She’s My Destiny.

2nd - MAHOGANY: Showcasing his versatility, Mahogany led the race at one point but could not maintain his lead. Despite coming off a long break, he performed admirably and is expected to return stronger.

3rd - ABILITY: In his first race among Grade One horses, the Jamaica Derby winner showcased resilience and talent throughout the race—particularly in the final stages—proving his potential against seasoned competitors.

4th - PERFECT BREW: Despite entering with an outside chance of winning, Perfect Brew failed to make an impact in the Gold Cup. Nevertheless, his talent should not be overlooked in future races.

5th - ROJORN DI PILOT: He set the early pace in support of his stablemate, Mahogany, but ultimately fell short.

6th - I AM FRED: The American-bred runner did not live up to expectations in the race.

7th - I’VE GOT MAGIC: Unable to perform at his best, I've Got Magic finished last.
