KINGSTON, Jamaica - SHE’S My Destiny easily defeated rivals in the $1.75-million Reggae Trophy feature on Saturday, August 12, 2023, with champion trainer Jason DaCosta believing his five-year-old chestnut mare is one of the best sprinters in training right now.
Bred by Bern Identity out of the Traditional mare Woman Is Boss, She’s My Destiny made all the running in a dominant length-and-three-quarter win margin in the Graded Stakes/Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upwards coming down the five-furlong (1,000m) straight course.
“She’s My Destiny trained well coming into the race. I know we were dodging some of the good horses by coming here, and it paid off,” DaCosta said.
“She’s My Destiny might be one of the top sprinters in Jamaica right now. She is happy and she is fit and so I am happy how she ran today, but I think she likes around the bend better than the straight.
“She ran out of the straight once and she didn’t run very well, but we decided to take a shot today and she won. She is doing fantastic right now and she is on top of her game. I hope she remains healthy for the rest of the year and we will see what happens,” the champion conditioner added.
She’s My Destiny, ridden by Reyan Lewis, got a good start at the break and immediately took the lead from stablemate Lure of Lucy (Jordan Barrett) and Jordon Reign’s (Tevin Foster). She’s My Destiny kept her advantage until she reached the dummy rails, when she began to pull away from opponents.
In the end She’s My Destiny easily won ahead of the fast-finishing Perfect Brew (Ramon Nepare) and Lure of Lucy, back in third place. She’s My Destiny, who was winning for the third time in seven starts this season, ran the distance in a time of 1:00.1 (23.0 x 46.2).
