Ash Wednesday Trophy the feature
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ash Wednesday Trophy (6 ½ furlongs) is the feature event on the mid-week card on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
A field of seven will compete for the major slice of the $1,050,000 purse.
THE QUICK GALLOPER analyses these seven runners in the hope of finding the winner.
1 – EL PROFESOR is a seven-year-old bay gelding by Casual Trick out of The Principal trained by Patrick Lynch. El Profesor is an in and out sort, whose form can never be judged accurately. Yet, on back class El Profesor always has a chance of winning in contests like this one. The best way to deal with El Profesor is to place him in the exacta and the trifecta wagers.
2 – MONEY MONSTER is a five-year-old bay gelding by Casual Trick – She’s Traditional trained by Fitzroy Glispie. Since winning in this grade (September 15, 2021), Money Monster has not rekindled anything near winning form. This bay gelding is at home over 6 ½ furlongs, and if in good health and nick, Money Monster is always a threat in this class.
3 – KAY BOY is a five-year-old chestnut horse by Rising Moon out of Amicable trained by Gresford Smith. Kay Boy is still trying to find his way among these and needs more time.
4 – SHE’S MY DESTINY is a four-year-old chestnut filly by Bern Identity out of Woman Is Boss trained by Jason DaCosta. She’s My Destiny was put to the sword by some seasoned Overnight campaigners when she tried this category 18 days ago. Now with lesser rivals in her wake, She’s My Destiny as the speed in the race will have to be caught. The distance is well within the range of She’s My Destiny, who has already won over seven furlongs. Difficult to see She’s A Destiny losing this one, but then again this is racing.
5 – I’VE GOT MAGIC (USA) is a US-bred four-year-old bay colt by Fast Anna out of Lil Miss Richie trained by Philip Feanny. I’ve Got Magic is racing longer than 5 ½ furlongs for the first time in his seven starts. His style of running is always coming from behind thereby giving the impression that 6 ½ furlongs will not be an issue. This is I’ve Got Magic’s first attempt at Overnight and this might be the only negative in his armour.
6 – DUNROBIN is a nine-year-old bay gelding by Blue Pepsi Lodge out of En Vogue trained by Owen Sharpe. Has no chance at all.
7 – DEJAE’S BOY is a five-year-old dark bay gelding by Storm Craft out of Dream Big trained by O’Neil Markland. Dejae’s Boy chances of winning are almost non-existence.
