KINGSTON, Jamaica – The foreigners dominated the locals in the second race on the holiday Monday card at Caymanas Park which was a Restricted Stakes event run over 9 furlongs and 25 yards for three-year-olds and upwards.
She’s Irie ridden by apprentice Kiaman McGregor and trained by Patrick “Wacky” Lynch stayed well of the pace as Code of Honour (Roger Hewitt) and Universal Boss (Reyan Lewis) set off on a blistering duel for the lead and at one stage both these horses were at least 10 lengths ahead of the other six horses in the race.
Princess Ava (Ameth Robles) and She’s An Introvert (Christopher Mamdeen) then came down sharply on the leaders just before entering the straight while She’s Irie at this time was still well behind the leaders.
McGregor then placed She’s Irie on the inside rails as Princess Ava took over the lead with She’s An Introvert on the outside.
McGregor riding intelligently and with a deft touch got the US importee going at full tilt and that was enough to gain the ascendancy by two lengths.
She’s An Introvert was second with Princess Ava third.
The winning time was 1:55.2.
