Owner and trainer Robert Ffrench celebrated his belated birthday by guiding his mare, She's Fantastic, to victory in the opening event of Saturday's nine-race card on January 6, 2024.
Ffrench, who turned 62 on January 5, saw his five-year-old dark bay mare secure a win in the native-bred, non-winners of three category for five-year-olds and older, as well as imported non-winners of two, over 6.5 furlongs by a margin of 4.75 lengths.
Jockey Christopher Mamdeen rode She's Fantastic to an early lead over rivals Zion's Princess (Roger Hewitt), AKA Storm (Samantha Fletcher), and Babylon Will Fall (Ramon Nepare) along the backstretch.
She's Fantastic increased her pace around the half-mile turn, and with no real challengers approaching the finish line, the Bern Identity progeny cruised to a comfortable win.
Premier Identity (Tevin Foster) claimed second place, while Tigray Express (Dane Dawkins) finished third.
The event's split times were 24.1 x 47.4 x 1:14.2, with a final recorded time of 1:22.2.
