KINGSTON, Jamaica - Lawrence Freemantle's Shany Star clinched a decisive victory in the Harry Jaghai Memorial Trophy, effortlessly leading the field in her second start.

The native-bred three-year-old filly, sired by Savoy Stomp and out of Gentle Officer, dominated the 6 ½ furlong race, finishing 8 ½ lengths ahead with a time of 1:22.1, under the guidance of jockey Tevin Foster.

Racing with Lasix for the first time, Shany Star seized an early lead and never looked back, leaving rivals Paper Work, Brownie Brown, and Rock-Ola trailing in her wake. As the race progressed, she intensified her lead, particularly at the half-mile turn, showcasing her dominance.

Captain Sparrow, debuting in this race, mounted a strong challenge in the closing stages but could only manage second place, followed by Brenda Boy in third.

Freemantle, reflecting on Shany Star's performance said: "She won good. She's got potential to improve, which is evident in her exercises. Last time out, she bled, but today, she stepped up. We're progressing her cautiously. Give me a good horse, and I can deliver."
