KINGSTON, Jamaica - The lessons and practical classes for the 2024 cohort of the Jamaica Racing Commission’s Jockeys’ Training School have concluded. Now, it's time for the real challenge: riding and officially joining the Caymanas Park jockeys’ colony.
Several apprentices are set to make their first appearances on the race cards on Saturday, December 14, and Sunday, December 15.
On Saturday, the following apprentices will be riding: Evertte Clunis, Demar Williams, Emilio McLean, Jermaine Lewis, and Romaine Gordon.
Most of those participating on Saturday will return for Sunday’s races, with Tyrese Anderson joining the line-up.
Prior to starting their official riding careers, the apprentices gained experience by riding in three races for apprentices only.
