KINGSTON, Jamaica – Despite coming slowly out of the starting gates and despite being interfered with when rounding the half-mile turn, Sentient couldn’t help but win the eighth of nine races on the Boxing Day card at Caymanas Park a short while ago.

Ridden by champion jockey elect Christopher Mamdeen and trained by Gary Subratie, Sentient had to navigate through a crowded field of 12 but in the end, Sentient won by six lengths.

Sentient was winning for the first time in nine starts after some good efforts in the Derby, the Superstakes and a fourth place finish in the Diamond Mile. Today Sentient won over seven and a half furlongs in Restricted Stakes company for non-winners of four local horses.

Sentient provided his rider with his second Boxing Day victory and his trainer also.

Second went to Duke (Robert Halledeen – 5-1) with third the position occupied by Tricky One (Dane Nelson – 4-1).

The winning time a fast 1:30.2 confirmed the class of Sentient.
