KINGSTON, Jamaica - Race four on Saturday, November 16, 2024 is a maiden special weight for two-year-olds going seven furlongs for the Abbie Grannum Trophy.
A field of seven juveniles will contest this event.
Horse number one is Bad Gal Caleesi, a bay filly foaled on January 19, by Buzz Nightmare out of Turbinia, trained by Howard Bailey with Larris Allen riding. Bad Gal Caleesi is the most experienced of this lot with three starts to her credit. In those three efforts, Bad Gal Caleesi has shown nothing to suggest that winning is a live possibility. The best Bad Gal Caleesi can hope for is a place on the board. Note that Bad Gal Caleesi races with the blinkers off.
Horse number two is Mr Lee, a grey colt foaled on April 7 by Spieth out of Kipling Weekend, trained by Lee Clarke with Matthew Bennett aboard. In his only start to date (October 19), Mr Lee finished fourth, seven lengths behind the winner, Danka at five furlongs round. Then Mr Lee was running on, thereby making the additional two furlongs a better prospect. Include Mr Lee in the exacta wager. Note that Mr Lee races with the visor on.
Horse number three is Althia, a bred in utero bay filly, foaled on February 12 by Fort Laudan out of Truth Is Truth, trained by Gordon Lewis with Phillip Parchment holding the reins. Morning exercise reports by watchers indicate that this filly has potential while moving well in preparation for this race. Althia is expected to be in the mix but will have to wait for another occasion. Note that this first timer races with the tongue tie and figure eight on.
Horse number four is Giant Vigorous, a bay filly, foaled on January 9 by Here Comes Ben out of Glorious Cause, trained by Rowan Mathie with Rudolph Paige in the saddle. Giant Vigorous has faced the starter once, delivering an underwhelming performance. That trend is expected to continue on Saturday.
Horse number five is Atila, a bay filly, foaled on May 9 by Sunshine And Shadow out of Peace By Peace, trained by Fitznahum Williams with Youville Pinnock as the designated jockey. Atila is an attractive filly who has been developing in the mornings. The connections are expecting a good effort on debut.
Horse number six is All Together, a dark bay filly, foaled on February 15 by Patton Proud, trained by Ryan Darby with Oneil Mullings riding. All Together has raced twice without displaying anything of worth. Expect nothing more from All Together on Saturday.
Horse number seven is Secret Sensation, a chestnut colt, foaled on April 16 by Sensational Slam out of Secret Cat, trained by Carl Anderson with Bebeto Harvey aboard. This newcomer to competitive racing has been well-prepared for this race. Secret Sensation had a 1:03.4 gallop coming down the five-straight chute on November 9. He also had a 52.2 spin over four furlongs on October 6. This colt is ready to race.
