KINGSTON, Jamaica – The eighth race on Saturday, September 16, 2023, features division two of a three-year-old non-winners two call for locally bred horses and a maiden race for three-year-old foreign horses at six furlongs.

This event honours Flossie McNeil and is exclusively for fillies.

Below is The Quick Galloper's assessment for the ten entrants, listed in draw order:

1 – HOT STEPPER: A chestnut filly by Hedge Fund out of Crème De La, trained by Anthony Nunes with Tevin Foster aboard. She's getting closer to her time with a top four finish in sight.

2 – JOY IS GOLDEN (USA): A bay filly by Golden Cents out of Sylvan Light, trained by Patrick Lynch with Jordan Barrett in the saddle. Joy Is Golden wears a figure 8 and races without a tongue tie. Known for her speed. She is likely to be with the early headline and could maintain that gallop to the winning post.

3 – SHOMITHEBUTCHER: A bay filly by Nuclear Wayne out of Asia's Dream, trained by Norman Smith with Matthew Bennett aboard. Unlikely to handle this competition at present.

4 – RUNNING GLORY (USA): A bay filly by The Big Beast out of Talent N Speed, trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis in the saddle. Known for her speed but tends to falter in the home stretch.

5 – POWER OF HER HIGHNESS: A bay filly by Key To Power out of Her Royal Highness, trained by Oral Hayden with Javaniel Patterson aboard. Recently seen running on with increased chances due to expected fast pace upfront.

6 – LADY PAULA (USA): A bay filly by Firing Line out of Poppi's Peach, trained by Ryan Darby with Oshane Nugent in the saddle. Improved performance anticipated after unimpressive debut just 20 days prior.

7 – GLITTERING STAR: A chestnut filly by Deputy Glitters out of Spaced Out, trained by Lorne Kirlew with Paul Francis aboard. Enters non-two for the first time after an impressive win in her second start. Seems to be one who can get through her conditions. It would not be surprising if Glittering Star makes it two in a row.

8 – PRINCESS AKILAH: A bay filly by Nasheet out of Princess Lorna, trained by Anthony Nunes with Youville Pinnock in the saddle. May require time to adapt to this new grade leaving her maiden tag behind on her seventh start.

9 – ARIA'S REIGN: A dark bay filly by Resurgence out of Nuclear Warning, trained by Steven Todd with Dane Dawkins aboard. Finished a strong third behind Captain Calico and Money Market, and is well-suited to this race's distance.

10 – SHE'S MY HEDGE FUND: A chestnut filly by This Girl Is On Fire, trained by Jason DaCosta with Jerome Innis in the saddle. Not considered a contender in this race.
