The duo win the Further and Beyond Trophy
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Dane “The Warrior Chief” Nelson etched another career milestone to his already outstanding resume when he piloted Scooby to victory in the Caymanas Saturday third to register his 1,200th winner at Caymanas Park.
Scooby trained by Richard Azan won a three-year-old maiden condition contest at a mile. The race was named after the 2021 Horse of the Year, Further and Beyond.
It wasn’t a difficult task for Nelson as Scooby was early on the lead with his stablemate Thirtyonekisses (Delroy Beharie).
Scooby who kept a straight course throughout then pulled away but was quickly challenged by Devonte (Robert Halledeen). These two took the field into the straight for the last two furlongs with Scooby on the inside rails.
Scooby then put daylight between the two and it was left to Howilookin (Tevin Foster) running on to get second. Slam (Shane Ellis) also running on was third.
