KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ten horses have been declared to start in an Overnight Allowance event at five furlongs round on the Saturday programme of May 21, 2022.
Below THE QUICK GALLOPER shares an assessment of the 10 horses in this race.
Solid Approach – returns from a lengthy break of 241 days. This importee has raced with some of the best already and has proven her credentials. Solid Approach has been going well at exercise but will need the run to be fully effective. Given her back class, Solid Approach has an outsider’s chance of landing in the winners’ enclosure.
Miniature Man – steadily finding his way after a long absence, and will do so with time plus this in a sharp sprint which is typically not the fancy of Miniature Man.
The Good Witch – This is the first occasion this US bred bay mare will be racing on the local track and she does so with a record of two wins from 22 lifetime starts. The Good Witch also has four-second place finishes and one-third place in those 22 starts. Those present at morning exercise say that The Good Witch is a good looker, who has progressed well and is expected to put in a notable effort on this her debut run in Jamaica.
Sweet N Smart – has been earning her credits in this grouping and will prefer this short trip. Expect a better run from Sweet N Smart.
Danny Spud – has done himself and his connections proud by reaching this level. Danny Spud’s learning curve continues Saturday.
God of Love – finished 11 lengths behind Mahogany and Ras Emanuel on May 7. On Saturday, God of Love faces opponents he can deal with, and, as such, is the one chosen to reach the winners’ enclosure.
Lure of Lucy – has moved up in the weights as Lure of Lucy comes down the ladder from Open Allowance to Overnight. Now this foreigner carries 119 lb with the claim by Romario Spencer factored in compared with 98 lb when she faced the starter seven days ago. For sure, Lure of Lucy has speed and they will all have to catch her in the straight but watch the weight increase.
Laban – this bay horse is known for his consistency with five furlongs not a problem for him. Laban can sit off the pace and then strike in the stretch drive but has an issue leaving the gates, and once he can get off in order then, Laban will have every chance of winning.
Money Monster – five furlongs round is too short for this bay gelding. Yet, should the pace crumple then Money Monster’s chances of winning are increased.
Heiroffire – has no chance of winning this one.
