KINGSTON, Jamaica – Victory was expected by She’s A Wonder in the inaugural running of the 7 ½ furlong and so it was but the win was not with the ease anticipated by most pundits.
She’s A Wonder (Bern Identity – Jamaican Dream) trained by Ian Parsard and ridden by Reyan Lewis went into an unmolested lead with Secret Identity (Dane Nelson) and Sensational Ending (Anthony Thomas) following.
Lewis was able to pace the race to his liking and entered the straight with a three-to-four length advantage. Secret Identity tried her best to go at She’s A Wonder but that effort soon fizzed out. Sensational Ending who was switched from the outside to the inside and it was then that she started to motor and made up significant ground against a tiring She’s A Wonder.
She’s A Wonder with Lewis pumping hard held on to win by three-parts of a length in a final time of 1:33.4. Sensational Ending was second with Secret Identity third.
It should be noted that She’s A Wonder allowed weight all round to her rivals as much as 5 kilogrammes to Sensational Ending and 3.5 kilogrammes to Secret Identity.
