KINGSTON, Jamaica – Apprentice Samantha Fletcher conjured her fifth career win when she piloted 5-2 chance, Miss Nancy to victory for trainer Clifford Atkinson Jr coming down the five straight to wrap-up the day’s racing at Caymanas Park.
Miss Nancy raced somewhere in mid-pack as the field of 16 was strung out across the track in the $250,000 - $200,000 Optional Claiming event.
Moving close to the inside rails with a furlong and a half to go, Fletcher got Miss Nancy to move and they then sped away from the rest to win by 3 ¼ lengths.
Second went to 44-1 shot Aquilo with Smokescreen at 7-1 third.
