KINGSTON, Jamaica - Ryan Williams, who once tended to horses as a stable lad, has captured the title of Most Improved Trainer for the 2023 racing season.

Having launched his training career at Caymanas Park in the final month of 2017, Williams’ journey from the humble beginnings of managing stable operations to becoming a conditioner has been filled with ups and downs.

The year 2022 saw Williams guide four winners across the finish line, amassing earnings of $2,600,750, positioning him at the 50th slot in the trainers' leader board. However, the subsequent season marked a significant leap forward as he doubled his victories to eight and bolstered his earnings to $4,884,000, climbing to the 36th position.

Expressing his elation, Williams said, "The sensation is indescribable. It's a mix of excellence and euphoria."

He reminisced about his early days, "My journey began amidst the stables at Christian Pen in Gregory Park, where I grew up. It was there that my passion for racehorses ignited, and I've diligently worked my way up to where I stand today."

Despite not expanding his stable, Williams has honed his craft, optimizing the potential of the horses under his care.

"Improvisation over increment has been my strategy, and it's what has distinguished me as the most improved trainer since last year. I focus on maximizing the resources at my disposal," he explained.

Looking ahead, Williams is set on maintaining his upward trajectory. "Anticipate great things this season. I'm committed to putting in the effort required for even greater achievements.

Recalling last year's highlights, Magic Bullet's comeback from last to first place was a testament to our team's hard work and strategy," he shared with enthusiasm.
