KINGSTON, Jamaica - Runaway Algo, a top 2023 Grade One horse, has returned to the track.

The five-year-old chestnut horse has won 10 out of 21 starts and earned close to $9 million in its career.

After last racing on December 2, 2023, in the Mouttet Mile, Runaway Algo was sidelined for rehabilitation.

Trainer Dale Murphy mentioned that the horse is back on the track, currently undergoing light training.

“Thankfully, Runaway Algo is back on the track doing very light work at this time. We have to proceed cautiously with Runaway Algo to give him the best protection possible, as he has issues, which we have to deal with on a timely basis,” Murphy said.

While happy to see his charge in light training, Murphy added that Runaway Algo still has a long way to go.

“The good thing is that Runaway Algo is slowly recovering. It is going to be a long process getting him into shape to race competitively again. That work has now started but don’t expect to see him race until close to the end of this year,” Murphy said.
