KINGSTON, Jamaica – Despised in the betting at odds of 92-1, Roy Rogers under a compelling ride from apprentice Samantha Fletcher produced the run of his life to win the 10th of eleven races at Caymanas Park just moments ago.

Trained by veteran Dennis Lee, Roy Rogers a three-year-old grey gelding by Distorted – Soca Party after breaking evenly with the field surged for the lead on the inside rails in the six-furlong contest. In doing so, Fletcher seems to have interrupted the path of Rojorn Di Pilot but after a stewards’ inquiry it was deemed to be not an interference.

With Fletcher and Roy Rogers in the lead American Invader (Raddesh Roman) started to challenge and even took over at the top section of the straight but Fletcher riding as if her life depended on winning, asked Roy Rogers for a final surge and the gelding responded to pull away. The winning margin was ¾ of a length in a final time of 1:12.4.

Second was American Invader with Duke running on strong for third.

Roy Rogers paid $4,665 to win and the exacta (Roy Rogers – American Invader) paid a whopping $37,409.
