KINGSTON, Jamaica - On Saturday, April 13, 2024, the opening contest of nine races will feature a field of ten three-year-old maidens competing over a distance of 7 ½ furlongs.

The following is an assessment from The Quick Galloper:

- PAPPIE DON, a bay colt, sired by Sensational Slam and dam Sparkling Michaela. Saqlain Roman is the trainer and Josue Osorio is the jockey. Pappie Don races with the figure eight on. Despite two prior races, Pappie Don has yet to show potential for a win.

- KING PIYE, a chestnut colt, offspring of Admiral Alex and Jamaican Pharoah, with Anthony Nunes as trainer and Raddesh Roman as rider. Showing improvement with a second and third place in two races, this distance could suit King Piye.

- DESIGN DIVA, a bay filly, by Savoy Stomp out of Tashara, trained by Anthony Dixon and ridden by Roger Hewitt. Racing with Lasix for the first time. Design Diva has not impressed in four starts.

- THE SOUL WARRIOR, a grey colt, by Storm Craft out of Amanda Panda, trained by Phillip Lee with Carlos Blake as the jockey. Gear changes include removal of blinkers, with the cheek pieces on. The Soul Warrior has yet to win after several attempts. Nothing will change on Saturday.

- FRANCIS, a bay filly, by Savoy Stomp, dam Jazzy Jet, trained by Richard Azan with Reyan Lewis as the jockey. Despite high expectations, Francis has been a letdown and faces a new challenge, that of the distance. Francis now races longer than five furlongs for the first time. Cannot be confidently supported.

- INDESTRUCTIBLE, a bay colt, sired by Successful Native with dam Rudy Girl. Phillip Elliott trains and Youville Pinnock rides. Indestructible is still in search of form.

- BRENDA BOY, a bay colt, by Savoy Stomp and Delightful Brenda, trained by Fitzgerald Richards with Tevin Foster as the jockey. Third in all four races to date, Brenda Boy seems well-suited for the slightly longer distance, based on his previous seven-furlong performance.

- SOLO BLACK, a bay colt, sired by Northern Giant and Late N Drafty, trained by Lawrence Freemantle with Kerry-Gayl Robinson riding. Solo Black appears to have only a slim chance of success in this race.

- BOLD SHADOW, a bay colt, by Sunshine N Shadow and dam Charming Beauty, trained by Patrick Lynch with Ramon Nepare in the saddle. Despite nine attempts, Bold Shadow has come close and is afforded another opportunity to secure a win.

- ROSETTA, a roan filly, by Bold Conquest out of Khadiliah, trained by Jason DaCosta with Robert Halledeen as the jockey. Notable gear changes include removal of blinkers and addition of a visor. Rosetta has often placed second, finishing runner-up in four of seven races. Despite concerns over the distance, her prospects of victory are favorable in this line-up.
