KINGSTON, Jamaica – After finishing second the last three times, Black Point finally went one better in a maiden condition event for four-year-olds and up run over five furlongs round to get the Wednesday (September 25) race meeting underway.
Starting at odds of 9-5, Black Point ridden by apprentice Romario Smith and trained by veteran Phillip Elliott came from well off the pace set by Kiss of Love (Raddesh Roman) to catch the leader on the inside rails with a little under half-a-furlong to go.
Eventually, Black Point pulled away to win by 1 ¼ lengths over Kiss Is Love with Jamaican Storm another four lengths behind.
Black Point provided trainer Elliott with his third winner for the season while for Smith it was his fifth.
