KINGSTON, Jamaica - Richie Rich, running with the visor off, easily found the winning post in front in a maiden condition race for native-bred three-year-olds over 7 furlongs on Monday, August 7, 2023.

With Reyan Lewis riding for trainer Jason DaCosta, Richie Rich settled in fourth position down the backstretch behind Coalition (Raddesh Roman), Here Comes Doc (Anthony Thomas), and Nuclear Chaser (Tevin Foster) after a slow start.

Going into the half-mile turn, Richie Rich was still a way behind the front runners as Here Comes Doc challenged Coalition for the lead with Nuclear Chaser breathing down the leaders’ necks.

Richie Rich hugged the inside rails and cut the turn entering the lane but had to wait until he could find running room in deep stretch as Here Comes Doc was blocking his path.

Inside the final half-furlong, Richie Rich got the opening on the inside rails and the three-year-old chestnut colt powered his way to a 2 ½ length in the end.

Here Comes Doc finished second with Newland Links (Richard Byrd) getting up for third place. After splits of 24.3 x 48.0 x 1:15.1, the final time was recorded at 1:31.4.

Note, jockeys Tevin Foster and Richard Henry fell from their mounts Nuclear Chaser and Money Box, respectively, in deep stretch.
