KINGSTON, Jamaica – The first two-year-old event of 2023, is scheduled for Emancipation Day, Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Caymanas Park.
Beyond the thrill of the race, the first two-year-old race of the season represents a chance for growth and discovery. Trainers carefully assess their charges, observing their every move, and looking for signs of promise.
Owners watch on, their eyes fixated on the horses that carry their hopes and aspirations. And for the jockeys, it's a test of skill, as they navigate the surge of youthful energy beneath them, guiding their mounts towards the finish line.
Listed as the second of nine races, this first two-year-old call will be contested over three furlongs.

1 - BANADURA is a bay filly (born on March 21) sired by Casual Trick and out of Esperanza. She is trained by Jason DaCosta and will be ridden by Abigail Able. Morning reports indicate that Banadura has been well-prepared for her debut, successfully completing her gate schooling routine. Observers have noted her early speed and anticipate that she will be difficult to catch.
2 - LUCY IN THE SKY is a bay filly (born on March 21) sired by Liquidity and out of Tap A Bay Yankee. Trained by Jason DaCosta, jockey Reyan Lewis will ride her. Lucy In The Sky is currently in the learning phase of her training and may not be advanced enough to win on her first attempt.
3 - HIMAYA is a roan filly (born on March 23) sired by Casual Trick and out of Raksha. Trained by Jason DaCosta, jockey Phillip Parchment will be in the saddle. She is currently undergoing training and is expected to perform better in future races within her age group.
4 - BLU SENSATION is a bay filly (born on February 12) sired by Sensational Slam and out of Blues In The Grass. Trained by Ian Parsard, jockey Omar Walker will ride her. Considered one of the top contenders, Blu Sensation has been showing progress during morning workouts, including her gate preparation. She is likely to start as the favourite.
5 - SHEER DE JOUR is a bay filly (born on March 31) sired by Force De Jour and out of Sheer Madness. Trained by Alford Brown, jockey Shamaree Muir will be in the saddle. She is still in the development phase and not yet ready for competition.
