KINGSTON, Jamaica – After going by the post in first place when last at the race track on January 18, Cleopatra’s Child was disqualified.
Today (February 1, 2020), Cleopatra’s Child, with Dane Dawkins in the saddle again for trainer Gary Subratie, the US bred chestnut filly got by the post in front one more time but without any interest from the race day stewards.
Racing over the five straight trip, in a Restricted Allowance V for fillies and mares, non-winners of two, Cleopatra’s Child kept up with the leaders for most of the way before making a bid to win with a furlong-and-a-half to go.
Then while in front, with a half-a-furlong left, she was challenged by Unknown Solider (Aaron Chatrie – 2-1) on the outside and Fearless Abbi (Oshane Nugent – 16-1) on the inside but Cleopatra’s Child was able to hold her gallop, winning by just under a length.
Unknown Soldier was second with Fearless Abbi third at the end.
The winning time was 1:00.0.
