KINGSTON, Jamaica - Following the cancellation of the nine-race card set for today (Wednesday, September 1) at Caymanas Park by the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) due to COVID-19 concerns, Quickgallop.com can now report that there is a possibility that there will be racing on Saturday next (September 4, 2021).
In a letter to the promoting company (Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited – SVREL) advising of the cancellation, the JRC revealed that after two positive results were returned by members of the SVREL staff and after the contact tracing protocol was put in motion, it was found out that six JRC staffers came into contact with the positive COVID-19 individuals.
As a result, the JRC mandated that all its staffers, who came into contact with the two positive individuals be isolated, which was done since Saturday evening last, and that COVID-19 tests be done by its six staffers.
The results of those tests have all come back negative, plus the all the areas involved have been fully sanitised.
While, all this has been done, it is now a waiting game by the promoting company as to whether there will be racing or not on Saturday (Sept 4) as Prime Minister Andrew Holness will be addressing the nation at 6:00 pm today (Sept 1) and is still not known what new curfew measures, if any, will be implemented.
The OVERNIGHT program for Saturday, September 4, 2021, has been made available on Quickgallop.com.
