San Siro goes one better After finishing a close second to Lalala Bamba over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m) on April 8, the Lawrence Freemantle-owned and trained San Siro went one better in a native-bred five-year-old and upwards Restricted Allowance (non-winners of three) 1V (NW3) event over 7 furlongs (1,400m). With Dane Nelson in the saddle, San Siro didn’t have the best of starts at the off and raced among the backmarkers early on the race as Thepowersthatbe (Natalie Berger) led ahead of Scoobert (Shane Ellis). As the runners sorted themselves out down the backstretch, San Siro was still yet to make a move as Scoobert dashed to the front at the half-mile with Black River (Jemar Jackson) in chase ahead of Thepowersthatbe and Thunderstrike (Paul Francis). Turning for home, San Siro came into view but was giving Nelson a handful in deep stretch, but San Siro . But once Nelson got his mount to straighten out, San Siro came with a strong run on the inside rails to lead home rivals by 4 ½ lengths. Thunderstrike was second and Prince Dominick (Samantha Fletcher) third with the final time for the distance recorded at 1:29.3. Mamacita wins again Mamacita, trained by Nicholas Smith and ridden by Anthony Thomas, scored a fighting win at 4 furlongs (800m) in a three-year-old and upwards claiming ($250,000-$200,000) event. Breaking from the number one draw, Mamacita showed good speed at the off and slowly tracked to the centre of the racetrack. Mamacita, once settled galloped resolutely before drawing off with Mother Nature (Dane Nelson) on her inside. A short battle developed before Mamacita edged away to win by a neck. Mother Nature was second with Smarty Tradition (Roger Hewitt) running on for third place. The final time for the event was 47.1. Father Riel comes good After finishing in second place in his last two runs, Father Riel came good when he led home rivals in a native-bred three-year-old and upwards maiden special weight down the five-straight course. With Bebeto Harvey riding for trainer Junior Small, Father Riel had a great start rushing ahead of rivals. Coming across the dummy rails, the bay colt powered home under strong urging to win by a length and a quarter ahead of Oldkingcole (Dane Nelson) and Letters in Gold (Tevin Foster) in that order. Father Riel (Blue Pepsi Lodge – Sayamanda) won in a time of 59.4. Change of equipment does the trick for Lord of Ajahlon Lord of Ajahlon, running with the cheek pieces off, ran rivals into the ground in a four-year-old and upward Restricted Allowance V event over 4 furlongs (800m). Lord of Ajahlon, bred, owned and trained by Carl Anderson and ridden by Dane Dawkins, got a good break at the off and stayed close to the leaders for the first part of the race. Coming across the dummy rails, Lord of Ajahlon got going and drew clear from rivals to win by a length and three quarters in a time of 47.3. Jon P (Devon A Thomas) was second and Powerman (Jerome Innis) third.

In the third race, Gary Crawford claimed Prince Sammo for owner Keisha Thomas from Dennis Lee, Randolph Scott claimed Zi Beast for himself from Welsh Soutar and Dennis Pryce claimed Fortuneonehundred for owner Busy Racing Stable from Adin Williams. All horses were claimed for $180,000 each.
