KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Quick Galloper analyses the first five races of ten on the card of Saturday, September 16, 2023.
RACE ONE
After an unsuccessful campaign in three-year-old races, trainer Jason DaCosta entered Phenomenal One in a $550,000 claiming race at six furlongs. With Reyan Lewis riding, Phenomenal One delivered, securing the first-place purse and the claiming amount. This win marked the first of the day for both Lewis and DaCosta.
RACE TWO
Both Geolithic and her trainer Peter-John Parsard showcased their development when Geolithic came off the pace to win a one-mile contest for local three and four-year-olds with no more than four wins and a non-three for importees. Reyan Lewis expertly guided Geolithic before unleashing her power in the straightaway, winning by a massive 8 ¾ lengths. Young trainer Parsard's career has gained momentum since his May debut and, with horses like Rojorn Di Pilot, Jordon Reign’s, Neostar, and others in his stable, he is poised for further success. This win marked Lewis's second victory of the day.
RACE THREE
Rani Bangala achieved Overnight Allowance level with her fourth win, a commanding one over 7 ½ furlongs, piloted by champion jockey Dane Dawkins for trainer Robert Pearson. Pearson's has been experiencing a recent surge in winners with Rani Bangala his 12th this season out of 50 starts.
RACE FOUR
Trainer Adin Williams beamed with pride following Quantum Dancer's unexpected 13-1 victory — the day's longest-odds winner. With four wins from 25 starts, Quantum Dancer now faces a choice: compete in Overnight Allowance races or enter claiming races. The day saw winning jockey Tevin Foster secure two victories while Williams celebrated his second win in 2023 from only 11 starts.
RACE FIVE
