KINGSTON, Jamaica – The fifth race on Boxing Day (Tuesday, December 26) features a three-year-old maiden call at 7 ½ furlongs. Nine horses will compete, with The Quick Galloper providing the analysis below in draw order.
– PRINCESS TALISE, a bay filly (April 17) by Savoy Stomp out of Dancing Queen, is trained by Lawrence Freemantle and ridden by Dane Dawkins. Sporting cheek pieces, this filly has been inching closer to victory, but 7 ½ furlongs might be a stretch. Nonetheless, she is fit and can be a major factor in this friendly field.
– CAPTAIN PHILIP, a chestnut colt (April 8) by Hedge Fund out of Kandi With A K, is trained by Gary Griffiths and ridden by Shavon Townsend. So far a disappointment, he is unlikely to impress on Boxing Day.
– PHINY, a bay colt (January 7) by Nasheet out of One Stop, is trained by Ricardo Brown and ridden by Oneil Mullings. Racing with blinkers off and a visor on, Phiny isn't quite ready for competition.
– SWEET VICTORY, a grey filly (February 18) by Spieth out of Bitter End, is trained by Howard Jaghai with Tevin Foster in the saddle. She finished strong in her last race on December 16 at 7 furlongs, so the extra distance could work to her advantage.
– HOME ALONE, a bay colt (May 21) by Soul Warrior out of Nuclear Princess, is trained by Michael Cain Jr with Chris Mamdeen aboard. Although bettors have favored him so far, Home Alone has disappointed. His best option may be a place effort after faltering on November 18 at 7 ½ furlongs.
– SPITZEN KHAN, a chestnut colt (April 25) by Hedge Fund out of Daisy Duke, is trained by Patrick Smellie with Oshadane Robinson riding. Making his debut, he may need more time to race competitively.
– SUGAR SUGAR, a chestnut filly (March 22) by Berlino Di Tiger out of Misty, is trained by Michael Marlowe and ridden by Ramon Nepare. Her form doesn't indicate a strong performance in this race.
– GAME TO FAME, a bay gelding (May 10) by Resurgence out of No Pain No Gain, is trained by Al Brown with Javaniel Patterson in the saddle. Racing with a tongue tie on and using Lasix for the first time, he's not quite ready for this competition.
– SELECT PRINCE, a bay colt (March 27) by Silver Medallion out of Select Princess, is trained by Patrick Smellie and ridden by Trevor Simpson. Racing with the visor off, he'll likely struggle to win this race.
