KINGSTON, Jamaica - Princess Ifiyah began to show her potential in her fourth career start by winning the Al Gopie Memorial Cup on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
The four-year-old bay filly, sired by Buzz Nightmare out of Forced on Me, won a maiden condition race for native-bred four-year-olds easily, crossing the finish line 1¾ lengths ahead of her competitors over the 5-furlong straight course.
Ridden by Raddesh Roman, Princess Ifiyah broke well and contested the lead with Cruzinn Again (Tevin Foster), Tuts (Jordan Barrett), and Security Code (Shavon Townsend).
Princess Ifiyah stayed with the field for the first part of the race before Roman asked her to make a move, and she responded by pulling away from her rivals to win ahead of Papa Gray (Phillip Parchment) and Tuts. The final time for the race was 1:04.1 (25.1 x 50.1).
