Wins with the figure 8 off, cheek pieces on, Lasix

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Following a long break of 175 days, Princess Alani trained by Ray Phillips with Omar Walker having the reins in hand ran out a convincing winner of the Caymanas Saturday (March 26, 2022) first.
Princess Alani tasted success in a three-year-old maiden condition event for fillies only going 5 ½ furlongs, interestingly with the figure 8 off, the cheek pieces on and first time Lasix.
When the gates opened, it was She’s Fantastic (5-2) with Shane Ellis doing the navigation work who set the early fractions with Walker keeping Princess Alani close by, while Mila’s All That (Dane Dawkins) was making headway on the outside coming from the 10-draw.
She’s Fantastic carried the field of 10 into the lane but was quickly pounced on by Princess Alani, who then ran away from all and sundry to win by 4 ½ lengths in a final time of 1:08.0.
The 21-1 chance Zion’s Princess (Ruja Lahoe) ran on in the last half-a-furlong to snatch second place from She’s Fantastic.
This was Phillips’ second win this season and the fourth for Walker.
