Power Ranking wins 3-year-old non-two in style
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Dane Nelson closed a triple on the day when he easily brought home Power Ranking in the Ash Wednesday seventh for trainer Richard Azan. Earlier on the day, Nelson was successful atop Uncle Vinnie and Acero.
Power Ranking racing for the first occasion this year, won a three-year-old non-winners of two event coming down the five-straight course.
It was newbie Unruly Gyal (Anthony Thomas) who set blazing splits of 22.3 seconds for the first two furlongs with Nelson deciding to keep Power Ranking on the inside and cross over to the outside.
When the horses reached the main track proper, it was still Unruly Gyal on top but by now Nelson got Power Ranking to pick up his gallop and the bay colt by Casual Trick out of Escandalosa pulled away to win by 5 ½ lengths. Phoenix Risen (Romario Spencer) was second with Unruly Gyal third.
