KINGSTON, Jamaica – The 2023 Port Royal Sprint, a Graded | Open Allowance spanning six furlongs is one of the highlights on the Jamaica Day card set for Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Caymanas Park.

The Quick Galloper has compiled some noteworthy facts and figures on the 14 contenders in the race.

1 - Three foreign horses are set to participate in the 2023 Port Royal Sprint: Madelyn's Sunshine trained by Jason DaCosta, Is That A Fact trained by Jason DaCosta, I Am Fred trained by Jason DaCosta, and I've Got Magic trained by Philip Feanny. Note, Freedom Street trained by Patrick Lynch was imported in utero.

2 - The oldest horses in the Port Royal are God of Love, Duke, and Rojorn Di Pilot, all aged seven years.

3 - The youngest horses starting in the Port Royal include Ability trained by Patrick Lynch, Is That A Fact trained by Jason DaCosta, and Mamma Mia trained by Jason DaCosta.

4 - Two Derby winners will compete in the Port Royal: King Arthur trained by Jason DaCosta and Ability trained by Patrick Lynch.

5 - Among the 14 horses set to start in the Port Royal, only two females are participating – four-year-old filly Madelyn's Sunshine trained by Jason DaCosta and three-year-old filly Mamma Mia, also trained by DaCosta.

6 - No stallion has sired more than one starter in the Port Royal.

7 - Duke holds the record for the most career starts among the Port Royal entrants, having started 74 times and claiming 14 victories for a total career earning of $18,721,500.

8 - Mahogany has secured the most wins in the Port Royal, entering the winners' circle 15 times out of 28 starts with lifetime earnings of $16,106,500.

9 - The horse with the fewest starts is Ability, with only six outings.
