Victory for trainer Phillip Elliott, jockey Dane Nelson
KINGSTON, Jamaica – After eight starts while finishing second six times, Rupunzel finally found the winning post in front in the Caymanas Saturday fourth.
The Caymanas Saturday fourth was the Eight Thirty Trophy – a three-year-old maiden contest for fillies only at five furlongs straight.
Newcomer, She’s Fantastic (Omar Walker) set the early splits along with Dujour (Oshane Nugent) and Another Wave (Shane Ellis), the closest of those following. At this phase in the contest, jockey Dane Nelson had Rupunzel well off the pace.
In the last two furlongs, Nelson decided to go on the inside and that was when Rupunzel picked up her gallop, runaway to win by 1 ¾ lengths.
Another Wave was second and She’s Fantastic third.
