KINGSTON, Jamaica – Howard Hamilton known to many as a true racing man will be honoured over the two days (Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5) of the Guineas weekend for his long and outstanding contribution to the sport of horse racing in Jamaica.
Hamilton has dedicated over 60 years of service to the horse racing industry and has been involved in many aspects of the sport/business. He is a former champion owner, a noted breeder (part of Ham Stables). He served as the chairman of the previous promoting company, Caymanas Track Limited (CTL), on two separate occasions, as a racing columnist, as president of the Owners’ Association and now sits as the current head of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association of Jamaica.
He is also a published author – his book “My Journey with Thoroughbreds”, chronicles the history of thoroughbred racing in Jamaica, providing the unique perspective of a storied expert. It is a must-have for the avid Jamaican racing fan.
Hamilton attained his greatest moments in racing when he won the Derby two years in a row with the highly talented pair of thoroughbreds, A King Is Born and Distinctly Irish.
In addition to the 1000 & 2000 Guineas and the Distinctly Irish Trophy, there will be four new trophy races to the weekend lineup. These four new races are:
SATURDAY, JUNE 4
