KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Miss Ruth Trophy is a maiden two-year-old call going 6 ½ furlongs.

The race honours Ruth Hussey, a former champion owner, and multiple winner of the prestigious Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes. There are 10 entries in the Miss Ruth.

Of those 10, the following can be safely eliminated: Miss Caleesi, Potential, and Justin Biden, leaving seven, for THE QUICK GALLOPER to analyse.

Thirtyonekisses (bay filly) has experience on her side having raced five times, hitting the fame once and that was in her last outing when finishing second behind stablemate Rainsville. Having shown that glimpse of form, she will have a say in the Miss Ruth.

Giant Wheeler (chestnut gelding) raced for the first time 7 days ago, finishing fourth behind winner Jaguar. Giant Wheeler must have benefitted from that initial run but moving from 4 furlongs to 6 ½ furlongs in quick time might be his undoing.

Another Wave (bay filly) has raced once finishing third behind winner Babylike. Now with first time Lasix this Tyrone Prince trainee has been coming along and a good effort is expected.

Our Angel (bay filly), who is racing for the third occasion, finished third behind winner Power 36 days ago, and since then has noticeably picked up tempo at exercise. Seems to have been primed for this trophy race by trainer Robert Pearson. With the experience and the rest period taken into consideration, Our Angel is on course to register her first tick in the win column.

Roraima (bay colt) makes his debut, and while active at exercise has not caught the eye of the clockers. Will need time to get his act together but will earn for his trainer Anthony Nunes.

Rupunzel (bay filly) has raced six times finishing second on five occasions. She is the most experienced of the lot, with the Miss Ruth presenting itself as the best opportunity for this Phillip Elliott trainee to win her first race.

Another Brother (bay gelding) has raced twice with a third behind Pelicula on December 6 being his best effort. He will have to show vast improvement to win but will earn.
