KINGSTON, Jamaica – In yet another show of his mastery in the saddle, jockey Omar Walker had to dig deep into his reserves on Sonny T And Chippy to thwart the persistent challenge of The Citadel (Jerome Innis).
When the gates opened in the two-turn, nine furlongs and 25 yards call, Innis rushed The Citadel from the outside draw to set the early fractions. The Citadel increased his advantage by several lengths. With Walker seeing the danger, he brought Sonny T And Chippy closer to The Citadel with about four furlong left to go, and from then on, a rollicking duel started for supremacy with Sonny T And Chippy proving stronger in the end.
Sonny T And Chippy is trained by Spencer Chung.
