Oldster War Hero starts Saturday racing at 10-1

KINGSTON, Jamaica – One of the oldest horses presently in training at Caymanas Park at age 12, War Hero showed that he is not done as yet – winning the first of 11 races on tap today (Saturday, February 1).

War Hero was off the pace in the third pack of horses, with the pace being set by Synchronize (Shamaree Muir). Kunama (Oneil Mullings -18-1) and Twilight Storm (Kawise Gentle – 2-1) were lurking close by.

Jerome Innis the rider on War Hero started to move when they entered the straight in the 6 ½ furlongs Optional Claiming contest for horses in the $250,000 - $200,000 bracket.

Synchronize choked early in the straight proceedings as Kunama and Twilight Storm battled for the win with War Hero starting to motor.

In the last furlong, War Hero was full of running and took over to score one of his rare wins for trainer Wilfred Chin.

This was War Hero’s sixth win from 92 starts.

Doctor Grey (Kiaman McGregor - 1-1) ran on for second with Twilight Storm third.
