KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trainer Anthony Nunes who is currently in a fierce battle with colleague trainer Wayne DaCosta for the right to be called champion trainer for this season aided his cause somewhat when Hot Ice just won a maiden condition event for three-year-old fillies over seven furlongs.
This allowed Nunes to pull back some of the stakes earned by DaCosta so far from his four winners on the day.
Hot Ice was ridden to victory by Shane Ellis and went of at odds of 7-2. The three-year-old bay filly recorded a time of 1:28.3.
Second was Obama Girl (7-2 – Phillip Parchment) who regrouped from a slow start and third was Cerasini (Dame Nelson) as the 4-5 favourite.
