Now Or Never For Ertugrul In 3-Year-Old Maiden Sprint

THE-QUICK-GALLOPER-4

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The seventh race on Saturday, December 23, 2023, features three-year-old maiden horses running at a short distance of five furlongs round.

Seven contenders aim to win the higher purse for this age group instead of waiting until they turn four.

Below is The Quick Galloper's analysis of each participant:

1 – BEAUTIFUL MOON, a bay filly born on June 1 and sired by Lion Tamer out of Sheyn Vi Di Levone. Trainer Cashbert Khwalsingh and jockey Shane Richardson team up in this event. With the tongue tie off, Beautiful Moon enters with three underwhelming performances. Despite only six competitors, this filly has slim winning chances but may still earn something.

2 – DON PABLO, a bay colt born on May 20 and sired by Key To Power out of Rejected Slew. Al Brown trains and Tevin Foster will be aboard. Wearing blinkers and a figure eight, this maiden colt seeks his rhythm after only one previous run and may need more time.

3 – ERTUGRUL, a bay colt born on January 15 and sired by Nasheet out of She’s A Gem. Trainer Steven Todd pairs with jockey Phillip Parchment for this race. Consistently placing in his last seven starts, Ertugrul competes against moderate opponents despite carrying the top weight – an excellent chance for his first win.

4 – TEXAS METAL, a bay colt born on May 10 and sired by Midnight Hawk. Omar Williams trains and Jerome Innis will ride. Racing without a figure eight, this lightly raced contender shows slow progress but may be worth considering for an exacta wager.

5 – SIR WONG DON, a chestnut colt born on March 18 and sired by Hedge Fund. Patrick Fong trains while Charlton Riley takes the reins as they continue honing this colt's skills.

6 – ROARING THUNDER, a grey colt born on April 16 and sired by Spieth. Gary Griffiths trains and Matthew Bennett is aboard. With fluctuating recent form, Roaring Thunder comes from a successful stable and should be respected for that reason.

7 – ATOMIC ENERGY, a chestnut filly born on February 5 and sired by Patton Proud. Adrian Prince trains and Roger Hewitt rides. After improving in her last five starts, Atomic Energy cannot be overlooked given the level of competition.
