KINGSTON, Jamaica – Two of the new trainers, who will be starting their careers on Saturday, May 13, 2023, Michael Cain Jr, and Oral Hayden are provided with the opportunity to get off the mark in the first of 11 races on the card.

That first event is a maiden three-year-old call going 8 ½ furlongs, in which there are 10 entries.

The Quick Galloper’s assessment is given below.

1 – IT’S PLUMMY is a grey filly (April 25) by Spieth out of Milestone, trained by Delroy Spencer with Talbert Howell in the saddle. Note, It’s Plummy races with the tongue tie off, and the figure 8 on. It’s Plummy has raced three times already without sparking any interest, and will do so once more.

2 – GOD STILL LOVE ME is a bay colt (April 11) by Storm Craft out of Auntie Rhoda, trained by Gary Subratie with Raddesh Roman aboard. Made his debut on April 23, finishing second running on over six furlongs. Now, God Still Love Me shoots up to 8 1/2 furlongs, which is a daunting task as far as winning is concerned. Can be backed in the trifecta, and superfecta.

3 – LEADING LAD is a chestnut colt (May 16) by Soul Warrior out of My Angel, trained by Anthony Nunes with Matthew Bennett in the saddle. Note, Leading Lad races with the figure 8 on. Finished third when he last faced the starter on April 1 behind Modern Miracle and Home Alone. The latter, Home Alone is present again, and with no major change in the weight allotment, Leading Lad will find it difficult to change that result.

4 – WATERMAN JOHN is a bay colt (February 7) by Sensational Slam out of Giacomo’s Pride, trained by Fitzgerald Richards with Shane Richardson aboard. Coming along in the mornings, not ready as yet.

5 – JOBLANE is a bay colt (May 18) by Savoy Stomp out of Patchwork, trained by Richard Azan with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. Note, Joblane races with the tongue tie on. Joblane is slowly trying to find his way. Finished fourth on April 29 travelling the two turns of nine furlongs and 25 yards. That race was won by Brown Skin Girl with Life Is Life second, and with Life Is Life in this one, Joblane will be hard-pressed to change the placings.

6 – HOME ALONE is a bay colt (May 21) by Soul Warrior out of Nuclear Princess, trained by Michael Cain Jr with Oneil Mullings aboard. Note, Home Alone races with the cheekpieces on. Did well in his first two starts, first finishing fifth, and then second at a mile. Then Home Alone performed well below expectations, eighth, 29 lengths behind winner Brown Skin Girl at 9 furlongs and 25 yards. Home Alone should once again find himself, this time for new trainer, Michael Cain Jr.

7 – CRUCIAL ALEXXYA is a grey filly (March 8) by Admiral Alex out of Crucial Cat, trained by Carl Anderson with Sadiki Blake in the saddle. Still learning.

8 – LIFE IS LIFE is a bay colt (February 18) by Natural Selection out of Little Wasp, trained by Jason DaCosta with Oshane Nugent aboard. Life Is Life is proven going long and has been a consistent earner in his nine starts to date. This is the best opportunity for Life Is Life to put a tick in the win column.

9 – UNCHARTER is a bay colt (February 15) by Hedge Fund out of Little Gidding, trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis in the saddle. Still trying to find a path.

10 – BAD INVESTMENT is a bay colt (January 30) by Casual Trick out of My Angel Briannah, trained by Oral Hayden with Javaniel Patterson in the saddle. Note, Bad Investment races with the blinkers on. Has an outsider’s chance of winning this one for new trainer Oral Hayden.
