KINGSTON, Jamaica – The third race on Saturday, December 9, 2023, features a fillies-only contest for three-year-olds who have not won two races.
Held in honor of Miracle Cure, the race spans a distance of 5½ furlongs and will see nine horses at the starting line.
The Quick Galloper provides an assessment of the contenders below.
1 – THE BEES KNEES: This bay filly (January 6) by Savoy Stomp out of Awesome Sauce is trained by Richard Azan with jockey Odeen Edwards aboard. Although victory is unlikely, she could place on the board as she continues to find her stride in non-two.
2 – NATURAL DANCER: This bay filly (March 15) by Natural Selection out of Gold Star Dancer is trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins holding the reins. She is gradually acclimating to non-winners of two and possesses impressive speed. In this race, the competition will need to catch up to Natural Dancer.
3 – HOT STEPPER: A chestnut filly (March 13) by Hedge Fund out of Crème De La, she is trained by Anthony Nunes with Paul Francis in the saddle. Hot Stepper has been competing in non-two since August without making significant waves.
4 – LADY KARMA: This bay filly (April 20) by Legal Progress out of Lady Rakwalaay is trained by Fitznahum Williams with Omar Simpson riding. She tried going long on her last run (9½ furlongs) without success. Although returning to a more favorable distance, she needs more time before grasping victory.
5 – MPRS LINKS: A bay filly (March 29) by Admiral Alex out of Brewed To Perfection, she is trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis aboard. After a prolonged break of 126 days, MPRS Links needs time to regain her full capabilities.
6 – POWER OF HER HIGHNESS: This bay filly (May 28) by Key To Power out of Her Royal Highness is trained by Oral Hayden with Jordan Barrett holding the reins. She can be safely dismissed from contention.
7 – THE LOVE OF GOD: A chestnut filly (February 22) by Lion Tamer out of The Principal, she is trained by Lawrence Freemantle with Javaniel Patterson riding. Experienced with 23 races under her belt, The Love of God is comfortable racing 5½ furlongs and is anticipated to deliver a strong performance.
8 – GOLDEN SYRUP: This grey filly (May 18) by Lion Tamer out of Sweet Sugar is trained by Anthony Nunes with Samantha Fletcher aboard. Golden Syrup can expect opportunities in future races.
9 – BOASEY: A bay filly (May 17) by Casual Trick out of The Golden One, she is trained by Adrian Prince with Tevin Foster riding. Boasey will race without blinkers and a figure 8 but will have a visor. Although her previous class cannot be disregarded, she may need to settle for a place on the board this time.
