KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ms Cherry, a two-year-old filly trained by Richard Azan, made an impressive debut in a maiden race at five furlongs straight.
The bay filly, sired by Sensational Slam and out of Fiftyshadesofray, was ridden by champion jockey Dane Dawkins.
After a slow start, Ms Cherry showcased remarkable talent and quickly became one to watch. She completed the race in a respectable 1:01.2, winning by 4¼ lengths.
Azan celebrated her debut victory but remained grounded about her future potential.
"I don't get overly excited when my horses, especially two-year-olds, perform well. It's too early to have high expectations for their future.
“However, I am pleased with Ms Cherry's performance. She was well-prepared for her first competitive run and met or exceeded expectations on race day," Azan told Quickgallop.com.
He then added, "Ms Cherry is a half-sister to Mojito, so she has a strong pedigree. Our focus now is to keep her healthy and happy for upcoming races. She's an exciting prospect, and we're looking forward to seeing her progress."
