The race for the Most Improved Trainer 2025 Award has produced a mix of emerging talent and seasoned experience. Five trainers have earned nominations:
- Peter-John Parsard
- Adrian Prince
- Oral Hayden
- Robert Pearson
- Barrington Bernard
Four of the nominees – Parsard, Prince, Hayden, and Bernard – represent the new generation of horsemen, having graduated from the Trainers’ School just over two years ago. Each have delivered breakout performances in 2025 that reshaped the standings.
- Peter-John Parsard finished fourth overall with earnings surpassing $26 million.
- Adrian Prince secured sixth place with more than $18 million in earnings.
- Oral Hayden claimed seventh spot, amassing over $17 million.
- Barrington Bernard rounded out the top ten, finishing ninth with close to $11 million.
Together, this quartet has demonstrated that the new wave of trainers is ready to challenge the established order.
Standing apart from the newcomers is Robert Pearson, the sole long-standing trainer among the nominees. Pearson’s steady improvement has been evident: he recorded 16 victories in 2025, up from 10 in 2024, while his earnings climbed from just over $9 million to nearly $12 million.
This year’s shortlist captures the essence of the award – improvement, progress, and impact. Parsard, Prince, Hayden, and Bernard embody the promise of Jamaica’s next generation of trainers, while Pearson represents the enduring strength of tradition and perseverance.
