KINGSTON, Jamaica – Patience, consistency, and confidence proved pivotal as Money Market delivered a strong performance to clinch the top prize in the Gerry Skelton Memorial Trophy feature race this Saturday. The bay colt, is trained by Gary Subratie and was expertly piloted by Dane Dawkins.

Strategically positioned behind the pack for much of the race, Money Market unleashed a decisive move along the inside rails, ultimately crossing the finish line with a length and a quarter to spare. The Overnight Allowance contest, open to three-year-olds and older, saw Money Market complete the five and a half furlongs in a time of 1:06.1.

Freedom Street, ridden by Larris Allen, made a commendable late surge to finish second, while She's A Godgift, under the guidance of Javaniel Patterson, maintained a valiant lead before settling for third.

Subratie’s decision to hold Money Market off the pace was a calculated move, allowing the colt to conserve energy for a powerful finish. “We kind of freshened him up after his last race,” Subratie explained. “Going 6 ½ furlongs was a little bit too far for him and he had to carry 126 lb.”

By implementing strategic adjustments, Subratie set Money Market up for success. "Today Money Market got a 6-lb break in the weight, and so I knew he had a better chance going this distance,” he added.

The trainer’s emphasis on keeping Money Market fresh for the race paid dividends. “I didn't pressure him too much coming into this race. I just try to keep him as fresh as possible, and he showed up today and it was an excellent time as well,” Subratie stated.

Money Market’s victory not only showcased the effectiveness of the training strategies employed but also underscored the potential of the talented young colt as he continues to make his mark in the racing circuit.
